For us, humans, the flow of water sustains our own bodies and also connects us to other bodies, to other worlds beyond ourselves. Our watery bodies dissolve the idea that bodies are necessarily or solely human. The bodies from which we are born are certainly human, but they are equally a sea, a cistern, a former underground reservoir. They were rain.
The artistic installation "gesture of void" contemplates the human as a hybrid assembly of materials, thus allowing us to say that we were never (only) human.
